 TASMANIA - A Biking, Hiking and Kayaking Adventure

Grab the excitement of discovery, the enchanting island of Tasmania, off the coast of Australia. Bike through 2 different wine regions and along the pristine east coast. Sleep under the stars at a luxury bush camp and dine on fresh oysters, local cheeses and fresh picked berries. Hike high above the capital city of Hobart and walk with wombats and wallabies on Maria Island.

Day 1: Launceston to Bridport        

Barnbougle/ Lost Farm Resort

Bike along quiet roads with expansive vistas between stands of forest and rambling sheep and cattle farms. Enjoy an afternoon picnic and wine tasting at a winery known for sparkling rose' and chardonnay.  Settle in for a stay at an expansive resort perched on the north shore. 


Day 2: Scottsdale

Barnbougle/ Lost Farm Resort

Capture the spirit of the wine country while biking  long and enjoyable downhills with spectacular views. Stop at a lavender growing estate on your way to the historic town of Scottsdale for lunch.The afternoon could include a beach walk or pampering at the spa.


Day 3: Bridport to the East Coast                                        Bay of Fires Bush Camp

Bike through tree fern and eucalyptus forests on a bike only rail-trail. Lunch in Derby, the center for Tasmanian mountain biking and international competition. Explore a story-book like valley and Tasmania's highest waterfall. Grab a refreshment at a traditional pub and dine under the stars at an award winning bush camp.


Day 4: Bay of Fires to Freycinet National Park                      Freycinet Lodge

Marvel at the orange lichen-covered rocks which give the Bay of Fires National Park it’s name. Cycle alongside unspoiled beaches, rocky coves and seaside farms of the beautiful east coast. Enter the Freycinet National Park with its lofty peaks, white sand beaches and turquoise water.


Day 5: Freysinet National Park                                              Freysinet Lodge

Climb to the Wineglass Bay lookout, one of Tasmania’s most renowned hikes. Kayak to secluded coves with intimate beaches and marvel at the parks rugged beauty.

Day 6: Maria Island                        

Brockley  Estate 

Visit Maria Island, a car-free biking and hiking mecca. Walk with wombats and grazing wallabies and picnic at the edge of a sea cliff or sandy cove. Settle info the night at an historic house of a bygone era. 


Day 7: Hobart                                                           

Henry James Art Hotel

Cycle to Richmond, a quaint town that looks like its straight out of the English countryside. Explore the friendly city of Hobart with its waterfront parks, historic buildings and cafes. Dine at an internationally recognized chef's signature restaurant.

Day 8:  Mt. Wellington                                    

Villa Howden

Hike on trails 4000 feet above the capital city on Mt Wellington. Learn about the flora and geology while taking in expansive views of the island in all directions. Sleep like royalty at a European style Villa.


Day 9: Bruny Island   

Villa Howden

Board a ferry to a picturesque farming island. Ride quiet roads stopping for local culinary treats.  Taste fresh oysters, locally made cheese, chocolate and honey to name a few. Finish off the day at a local whisky distillery.

BHUTAN - A Biking or Walking/Hiking Cultural Journey

 Choose either the Biking or Walking activity focused departure.

Choose between the predominately biking or walking trip that envelopes you with local cultural experiences. Both offerings have an internal flight to the heart of this Buddhist country where multiple temples and monasteries abound. Travel overland through valleys and across mountain passes unveiling the magic of this hidden culture via active exploration.

Day 1: Bangkok to Paro

Zhiwaling Resort

Following a morning flight from Bangkok enjoy lunch at a pervious king's palace. That, along with an afternoon hike to a cliff hanging village, takes you back in time. The biking trip pedals to the far end of the valley to visit a refurbished fortress.

Day 2: Paro

Visit the impressive Paro Dzong on the walking trip or discover the adjacent farming valley if biking. When the weather is clear you can catch a glimpse of the 23,997' Jomolhari Peak. Try your hand at the national sport of archery in the afternoon. Enjoy a traditional meal at an old farmhouse for dinner.


Day 3: Bumthang

A morning hike to one of the most revered religious icons in Bhutan, the Tiger's Nest, sets the tone for the mystical wonder of the country. An afternoon flight transports us to the spiritual center of the country, Bumthang.

Day 4: Bumthang

Hike or bike through an enchanted valley steeped in legend while visiting a rustic village, an abandoned palace and ancient temples. Receive a blessing from a senior monk and learn the temple ritual of prayer and making offerings.


Day 5: Chumey

Chumey Nature Resort

Bikers ride along temple lined back roads and over a pass covered in thousands of prayer flags. Walkers follow an ancient path from a pass to a collection of temples and monasteries set along a ridge. Whichever trip you choose, both activities culminate in beautiful Chumey Valley.

Day 6: Phobjikha Valley

Gangtey Lodge

Take in an amazing religious structure perched high above two river canyons at the geographical center of Bhutan. The riding and walking activities end at the magnificent Phobjinka Valley, breeding grounds of the rare Blacknecked Crane.

Day 7: Punakha

Dhensa Resort

Pedal the picturesque valleys and ridges that divide the central portion of the country form the west. Watch for yaks grazing on the hillsides while walking local trails of the herders and share some yak-butter tea. 


Day 8: Punakha

Dhensa Resort

Observe a sunrise chant at a nunnery. Walk or ride to the head of the Po River and raft class 2 and 3 rapids past terraced rice fields. Visit the iconic Punakha Dzong, the location of the royal weddings and annual festivals.

Day 9: Thimphu

Taj Tashi Hotel

Marvel at the full range of the Himalaya atop Dochu La Pass and hike to the Queen Mother's temple through Rhododenrum forests. Visit the worlds tallest seated Buddha encasing 25,000 smaller statues. Explore the nations capital from your hotel doorstep.

Day 10: Paro

Le Meridien Riverside 

Bike from the recently inaccessible valley of Haa to Paro with grand vistas of far off peaks and small farming communities. Walk through rice paddies and visit a local home.

Day 11: Bangkok

After a farewell blessing by a local monk and flag hanging ceremony, board the flight back to Bangkok.
